💰 The Money Is Hiding In Your Experience

Most people look at their work history and see a résumé.

Entrepreneurs look at it and see inventory.

Last time we talked about something important:

You already have valuable skills.

The problem is that most people stop there.

They make a list of skills.

Then wonder why nobody is lining up to pay them.

Here's why.

People don't buy skills.

They buy results.

🧠 The Resume Trap

Let's say you're great at:

  • Project management

  • Customer service

  • Scheduling

  • Team coordination

  • Training employees

Those are skills.

Useful skills.

But clients rarely wake up thinking:

"I hope I can find someone with project management skills today."

What they think is:

"I need someone to stop my projects from falling behind."

Or:

"I need someone to help my customers stay happy."

Or:

"I need somebody to organize this mess."

See the difference?

People don't buy tasks.

People buy outcomes.

And the faster you learn to identify outcomes, the faster you'll identify opportunities.

🔍 The Expertise Extraction Framework

Here's an exercise I wish someone had shown me years ago.

Take a sheet of paper and create three columns.

Column 1: What did you do?

Examples:

  • Managed projects

  • Trained employees

  • Scheduled meetings

  • Answered customer questions

  • Organized files

  • Wrote reports

Pretty ordinary stuff.

Most people stop here.

That's a mistake.

Column 2: What happened because you did it?

Now we're looking for outcomes.

For example:

  • Managed projects → Deadlines got met

  • Trained employees → People became productive faster

  • Scheduled meetings → Teams stayed aligned

  • Solved customer issues → Customers stayed loyal

  • Organized files → Information became easy to find

  • Wrote reports → Leaders made better decisions

Notice what changed?

We're no longer describing activities.

We're describing value.

And value is what people pay for.

Column 3: Who desperately wants that outcome?

This is where opportunities start appearing.

For example:

Deadlines getting met
→ Small business owners
→ Marketing agencies
→ Consultants

Customers staying loyal
→ SaaS companies
→ Ecommerce stores
→ Membership businesses

Teams staying organized
→ Coaches
→ Entrepreneurs
→ Growing startups

Suddenly you're not looking at a job description anymore.

You're looking at market demand.

That's the difference between employee thinking and operator thinking.

Employees focus on responsibilities.

Operators focus on outcomes.

💡 A Real-World Example

Imagine Sarah.

Sarah spent 12 years as an executive assistant.

If you asked her what she did, she might say:

"I scheduled meetings and handled admin work."

Not exactly exciting.

But let's run Sarah through the framework.

What did she do?

  • Scheduling

  • Vendor coordination

  • Inbox management

  • Project follow-up

  • Executive support

What outcome did she create?

  • Leaders stayed focused

  • Projects stayed organized

  • Teams communicated better

  • Important tasks didn't fall through the cracks

Who wants that outcome?

  • Busy entrepreneurs

  • Agency owners

  • Coaches

  • Consultants

Suddenly Sarah isn't an executive assistant anymore.

She's an operations specialist.

Or a fractional operations manager.

Or a virtual COO.

Same skills.

Different framing.

Different income potential.

That's what I want you to see.

The opportunity is often hiding inside work you've been doing for years.

🌄 The Real Opportunity

Most people assume they need a brilliant business idea.

They don't.

Most successful businesses aren't built on revolutionary ideas.

They're built on solving familiar problems better than someone else.

And chances are...

You've been solving familiar problems for years.

You just haven't been looking at them through an entrepreneurial lens.

🧙‍♂️Whiskered Wisdom

The whiskers don't lie.

Your job title isn't your value.

The problems you know how to solve are your value.

🎯 Today's Move

Complete this exercise:

  1. List five things you do regularly.

  2. Write down the outcome each creates.

  3. Identify who benefits from that outcome.

Then finish this sentence:

"People would pay me because I help them __________."

Not because you're experienced.

Not because you're qualified.

Because you help them achieve a result they care about.

That's where the money is hiding.

🧙‍♂️Ace’s Adage

Skills become income when they're connected to a problem worth solving.

Don't sell your experience. Sell the outcome your experience creates.

Next we'll identify which skills create the fastest path to your first paying customer.

Reply with one outcome you help create 🧠
